Virtual Sessions
Are you part of a transient yachting community and concerned you can’t complete your rehabilitation here in Antigua?
Perhaps you don’t live in Antigua but would like Abby’s professional opinions regarding an injury or for some 1-1 pilates?
We are here for you! At Reform Virtual, physiotherapy and pilates sessions can be provided over Zoom.
Virtual Physiotherapy
Abby is a Chartered Physiotherapist, able to assist many patients initially with a video consultation. Zoom has been chosen in line with GDPR guidance, to provide a secure online space for us to assess your needs.
If you are using Zoom for your initial or follow up physiotherapy session, please ensure you have a quiet space with enough room to do some movement, and of course good internet connection.
An online physiotherapy assessment will be similar to those taking place in clinic, with the aim to understand your condition and help you to achieve your goals.
Observation is a huge part of a physiotherapist’s skill set to establish any issues and therefore Zoom can be an excellent starting point for majorty of injuries, aches or pains. An initial assessment with Abby involves a lot of questions to help her understand the mechanism of your injury. This combined with the way you move can assist with a diagnosis.
Follow up Sessions
Following a diagnosis, we will discuss the treatment plan and ensure you are happy with this with an approximate time frame. A bespoke exercise plan will be provided to you with the help of a fantastic app Abby uses, called PhysiApp. This is free for you to download and allows Abby to prepare an individualised programme which can be edited remotely.
Many conditions are best treated ‘hands off’ and therefore Zoom consultations and follow up sessions can work excellently to get your long-term goals met. Some conditions that Abby works virtually with and sees great results are
low back pain
Neck and upper back pain
Sciatic pain
Sports related injuries
Shoulder issues.
If the video consultation does not provide Abby with enough information, she will advise you to come and see her for a face-to-face or for those off island, she will assist you in finding a local Physiotherapist to continue your care.
Virtual Pilates
With the onset of Covid-19 and numerous lockdowns, Abby started Zoom Pilates classes and 1-1 sessions.
These were a huge success and as such she continues to use Zoom and works with clients worldwide. A virtual dynamic 1-1 pilates session can be provided to you over Zoom. Abby will offer cues when necessary and be providing verbal and visual instructions throughout.
She may suggest you add some equipment into your sessions, such as weights or resistance bands or her favourite pilates piece, ‘the magic circle’.
For those without any equipment, household items and bodyweight can work just as well.
